Blender Singapore: The Alternative for Juicing, Even without the Juicer

Blendtec blender singaporeIt’s interesting how we often take for granted the appliances we have in our kitchens. The truth is, we don’t get to use our kitchen equipment to their full potential. Kitchen appliance which we probably feel constrained to use due to its perceived lack of functionality is the blender. Ever thought your blender should be used only for blending liquids and chopping solids? Well, think again.

In Singapore, blenders may be used as juicers. It can be a great alternative to a juicer because it works well with soft fruits like pears, berries, oranges, grapes, apricots and peaches.  Bananas, apples, avocados, while not as light, can still produce delectable juices of thicker consistency. While a juicer automatically separates the fruit juice from the fruit pulp, using a blender gives you two options: one is to drink your juice without pulp and the other is to drink it retaining some pulp so there’s fibre to make you feel fuller for a longer time.

How to Use Blender as a Juicer

Here’s a step-by-step process to make blender juicing a bit easier and more fun.

1. Wash vegetables or fruits thoroughly. You can do so using cold water so that bacteria or germs are washed away, leaving you safe from contamination and food-borne diseases. Use a vegetable brush for fruits and vegetables with thick skin so dirt can be effectively removed.

2. Peel away skin and remove all the seeds so these do not get mixed up with the liquefied produce in the blender.

3. Cut your fruits and vegetables preferably in small bits of cubes not more than an inch. Smaller cuts are easier to liquefy.

4. Put the fruit or vegetable cubes into the blender. Also, pour in a half cup of water per four cups of small fruits like berries and strawberries or per four large fruits like apples and avocados.

5. Blend the mixture, setting the blender only on medium strength. Continue to blend until you reach the desired consistency. Add more water if necessary.

6. If you want to retain only pure juice, you have the option to separate the juice from the pulp by running the liquefied produce through a cheesecloth or mesh strainer. Discard the pulp once juice has been extracted.

7. Add teaspoon of lemon extract to your juice so it does not discolour.
